July

01/07 Seawatching at Long Nab (06.15-10.15) produced 2 Arctic Skuas, 37 Manx Shearwaters, 220 Puffins, 7 Teal, 12 Common Scoter, 59 Curlews (all south), 1 Redshank, 1 Common Tern, 47 Sandwich Terns, Red-throated Diver.
04/07 21 Curlews & 60 (1 juv) Black-headed Gulls Scalby Lodge "show field"
05/07 Common Tern & 2 Sandwich Terns North Bay
06/07 Adult breeding Spotted Sandpiper Wykeham Lakes this evening (no public access, private site), also LRP and three Common Sandpipers. Two Red-throated Divers flew into North Bay.
07/07 Spotted Sandpiper still at Wykeham Lakes (eve only), also three Egyptian Geese. Barn owl near Wykeham early morning.

08/07 Spotted Sandpiper again at Wykeham Lakes this eve. Long Nab (18.00-19.00) 5 Manx Shearwaters, 23 Sandwich Terns, 9 Puffins.
09/07 Spotted Sandpiper Wykeham Lakes in eve., also drake Scaup,Green Sandpiper, 3 Common Sandpipers, Greenshank, 2 LRP (1 juv). Two Turtle Doves Harwood Dale, Mandarin on lake. Spotted Flycatcher Brompton village. Hobby over Cromer Point also Cuckoo, Stonechat & Grasshopper Warbler trough gulley. 09/07 Two Nightjars churring Harwood Dale Forest near Falcon Inn 10.30 pm.
10/07 Ad Spotted Sandpiper Wykeham Lakes this a.m. still.
14/07 Spotted Sandpiper still at Wykeham Lakes this eve. (no public access).
15/07 Spotted Sandpiper still at Wykeham Lakes, also Green and Common Sandpipers, LRP. Raptor View point 9.am- 11am 7 Crossbills in flight, Turtle Dove, and singing Garden warbler. 2 Nightjars last night.
Long Nab (06.30-09.30) - Red T Diver, Shag, 14 Common Scoter, 2 Dunlin, 10 Arctic Terns, 16 Common Terns, 90 Sandwich Terns, 2 Arctic Skuas.
16/07 12 Common Sandpipers roosted at Cloughton Town Farm pond in eve, plus Turtle Dove

17/07 Ad Spotted Sandpiper still at Wykeham Lakes (no public access), plus 3 Egyptian Geese, Dunlin, 2 LRP, Common Sandpiper, 2 Green Sandpipers.
19/07 Ad Spotted Sandpiper still at Wykeham Lakes this eve. Also LRP, 9 Oystercatchers, 2 Common Sandpipers, 2 Yellow-legged Gulls (ad + 3rd summer), 180 LBB Gulls.

19/07 Adult Black Kite Ganton 09.30-09.45am left west.
21/07 No sign of Spotted Sandpiper this eve, one Green Sandpiper. Five Knot at Scalby Mills.
21/07 Goshawk over Hackness.
22/07 Up to three Honey Buzzards over Wykeham Raptor Viewpoint this afternoon plus two Common Buzzards.

23/07 Little Egret mobbed by 2 Peregrines Long Nab this morning plus Harrier sp. south. Little Egret on rocks 100m south of hut 2pm.Turtle Dove Harwood Dale. Juv Cuckoo Trough Gully, Scalby Lodge.
Long Nab (20.00 - 21.00); 25+ Arctioc Terns, 67+ Common Terns, 51 Sandwich Terns, 6 Whimbrel south, 10 Puffins.
24/07 Little Egret again on rocks below hut at Long Nab 2pm but no sign this eve. Eight Shovelers Scalby Lodge Pond. Juv Grasshopper Warbler Ravenscar and 5 Eiders in bay.
26/07 Little Egret at Scalby Lodge (small) Pond 11.30am, and on rocks just south of Cromer Point this eve (to 8.15pm at least).
27/07 Four Med Gulls at Holbeck Car Park this eve, three adults (incl. the returning Serbian ringed bird), one first-summer bird, Crossbill flew north over Sainsbury's at 08.10 am. 25 Sandwich Terns at Holbeck. Castle Hill. Merlin over the sea, then inland

28/07 Wood Warbler Bridestones, Dalby Forest. Two Honey Buzzards over Hackness at 2.10pm plus Common Buzzard.
29/07 Goshawk over Highdales at 4pm.
30/07 Three Honey Buzzards, Common Buzzard and Goshawk from Wykeham Raptor Viewpoint 13.30 - 16.30. 11 Herons at Scalby Lodge Pond. Juv Wheatear at Long Nab.
